Artic Ease. So I found this awesome product at the expo of the Marine Corps Marathon this weekend. I absolutely love it, brilliant. Tissue damage can occur if tissue temperature is cooled to 59° F, so ice is not always the best thing for injury. The Arctic Ease Cryotherapy pad provides consistent, controlled-release, even thermal therapy due to ergonomic designs that target injured joints and tissues. I tried the samples they gave me and I am a convert. This thing really does stay cool for hours, stays in place while walking around, and no mess.

Gym Boss. This handy compact gadget is a small, easy-to-use, dual-mode, interval timer. Portable and battery powered, so great at the gym or track. This multi-use timer has many versatile functions that make it beneficial to virtually any type of exercise program. The Stick. I tried one of these at an expo before the Philly Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon, and it really does work! This cool device designed to massage muscle tissue. Encourages increased circulation to muscle fibers before exercise, disperses lactic acid after workout, and diffuses muscle stiffness and knots. Get it here.

The Athlete’s Guide to Yoga. I have been thinking for a while I should incorporate some Yoga into my routine. Yoga has proven to help runners and other athletes perform better. I love the idea of a video to pop in on rest days. In this video ($27), yoga instructor, endurance athlete, and coach Sage Rountree and two of her pupils demonstrate three levels of modifications appropriate for athletes. Choose from 7 preset routines targeting different points in the training cycle and addressing specific problem areas, or arrange segments in any order to build a custom workout lasting anywhere from two minutes to two hours.

Big Book of Exercise. Sometimes it can be hard to mix up your exercise routine and introduce new strength training moves. This is a great book ($15) from the folks at Women’s Health (one of my fave magazines!) that offers almost 500 pages of exercise for every body part, routines for a whole body work out, and nutrition tips. Also included: 4 week diet/exercise plan to drop fat fast, a wedding workout, skinny jeans plan, and bikini workout. And they have a version for guys too from Men’s Health.
