I love Macarons. I am still skeptical that macarons are the new cupcake, but willing to try. In this cookbook ($10), renowned Japanese pastry-maker Hisako Ogita brings the art of baking macarons with fully illustrated foolproof step-by-step instructions. Yum!

50 Shoes that Changed the World. An interesting short read ($14) of fifty iconic shoes of the last 150 years, beginning with Frye Boot in 1863 from the Design Museum. Did you know our fave 1990 shoes Dr. Martens came about from a doctor’s ankle injury? Interesting stuff.

5 Factor World Diet. I love the approach to this “diet” book. Famous nutritionist and trainer Harley Pasternak studied populations all over the world with the lowest incidence of obesity and took note of what they ate. His 5-Factor diet ($16) is super basic and easy to follow: five meals a day to elevate metabolism and decrease body fat; five specific nutrients for each meal (protein, carbohydrates, fiber, healthy fat, and water or tea) to burn fat and boost your metabolism.
